A Memorial to a Great Cat
|
|
 |
Lady came to us via the
Woodside Animal Rescue Centre, Although they told me she was 3 years
old when I went to pick her up I thought that she was at least 9
years old. She was a really remarkable cat, almost psychic. Whenever
my ex-wife Kate and I argued she was there standing between us nagging
at us in full voice. when we were poorly or just sad there she was
crawling up your chest burying her head tight in to your neck, giving
you a big love. |

Lady was thrown out on to
the moors, she somehow managed to survive for the 2 months that
she was out there, not too good I might add, Persians seem to have
lost the hunting abilities of "normal" cats. She suffered from ticks
and totally covered in knots not to mention being half starved,
there was no meat on her bones, yet when I went to view her at the
centre, she looked up at me with those big eyes and came over to
the front of the cage and I knew that she was to be mine. |

We had a few years of fun,
pleasure and love from the old girl and for her part she seemed
very happy. sadly, Lady developed terminal kidney failure, she rapidly
lost weight, and stopped eating, she only took water, and so spent
most of her time with her face in the water bowl. We took her to
the vets and they carried out blood tests which confirmed the worst,
they also confirmed that she was at least 14 years old. Lady was
put to sleep, and her suffering stopped on Wednesday, 13th August
1997 at 16:15. |
